Step 2: Starting your Orthodontic Treatment
Congratulations, you’ve made the decision to begin your smile journey with us!
We’re so excited to officially welcome you as a patient at Johnsonlink Orthodontics. If you didn’t begin treatment the same day as your consultation, your next visit is when we get everything started.
This appointment typically lasts about one hour and is designed to get you fully set up for treatment.
During this visit, you will:
Get started with braces or Invisalign (or have appliances placed/ordered)
Receive your orthodontic care kit
Review care instructions with our team
Have all your questions answered
Our goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and excited as you begin treatment.
At Johnsonlink Orthodontics, we are always excited to meet new patients and welcome them into our practice family. We make it easy from the start. This visit is designed to be comfortable, informative, and completely stress-free.
Your first visit with Dr. Johnson or Dr. Lingenbrink is always complimentary.
During this appointment, you will:
Meet our doctors and team
Tour our office
Take digital photos and X-rays (if needed)
Complete a full orthodontic exam
Review personalized treatment options based on your concerns
If treatment is recommended, we can often begin the same day as your consultation. To prepare, we recommend completing your new patient and health history forms before your visit.
Once treatment begins, you’ll visit our office approximately every 8–12 weeks.
These visits allow us to:
Monitor your progress
Make adjustments as needed
Keep your treatment on track and efficient
We’ll work with your schedule to make appointments as convenient as possible. Consistency is key to achieving the best results on time!

Children should visit the orthodontist by age 7, but no age is too early if concerns are noticed.
3. Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
No referral is needed to schedule your first visit.
Initial comprehensive orthodontic exams are always complimentary at our office.
