Understanding your Insurance benefits

Making orthodontic care feel clear and manageable is important to us.

We know that understanding insurance and payment options can feel overwhelming at first, so our team is here to make the process simple, transparent, and easy to follow from the very beginning.

Lifetime Maximums

Orthodontic insurance typically includes a lifetime maximum benefit that does not renew annually. Once this benefit is used, it is no longer available for future treatment.

Coverage during treatment

Insurance payments are typically made throughout treatment rather than upfront. Coverage must remain active for the duration of treatment in order for benefits to continue.

If insurance changes or ends during treatment, coverage may not continue, and patients are responsible for any remaining balance.

Additional procedures and changes in coverage

Some orthodontic cases may require additional procedures such as oral surgery or exposure treatments. These services may draw from the same insurance maximum.

In some cases, changes in insurance coverage may affect benefits. New plans do not always continue existing orthodontic coverage unless they include “work in progress” provisions.

Treatment phases

Some patients require treatment in multiple phases. Because orthodontic insurance is based on a lifetime maximum, a portion of benefits may be used during the first phase, with limited or no remaining coverage for later phases.
